Growing up in Liverpool in the noughties as a boy with a ‘scally’ skinhead, Lucia was plagued with gender dysphoria. Today, she’s the beating heart of the UK’s trans rights movement. She’s glamorous and fabulous: a woman of true strength.
Lucia started Trans Pride London in 2019 to create a safe space for transgender people to take to the streets and celebrate every single thing that makes them incredible. Now thousands of trans people and their allies march each year right through the centre of London with heart and pride.
But Lucia is pushing for more than just one day of celebration and acceptance. She believes those on the margins shouldn’t have to hide who they are for anyone. In fact, they should say a big fuck you to anyone expecting them to change.
Lucia raises awareness about the consequences of not feeling accepted. She refuses to shy away from the painful truth and openly discusses mental health issues and the devastating rates of suicide within the trans community.
A woman who refuses to compromise her identity and leads others in doing the same, Lucia Blayke is a burning flame, a fire so fierce that her passion is igniting a better future for all.
